Symptoms that point to the cable
The display cable carries the video signal from the motherboard through the hinge to the panel. Because it flexes every time you open and close the lid, it wears at the bend. Tell-tale signs: flicker or lines that change as you move the lid, the picture cutting out at certain angles, or a screen that works only partly open.
