Choose a USB-C laptop charger correctly: Power Delivery wattage, what your laptop needs, and why a phone USB-C charger may not power a laptop.
USB-C laptops charge over Power Delivery (PD) — buy a PD charger of at least the original wattage.
A low-watt phone USB-C charger may not charge a laptop under load.
Confirm your laptop actually charges over USB-C (not just data) before buying.
Not every USB-C port charges a laptop — some are data/display only. Check that your laptop shipped with a USB-C charger or that the port has a charging/PD marking. If your laptop came with a barrel charger, it does not charge over USB-C.
USB-C PD chargers come in wattages like 45W, 65W and 100W. Buy at least the wattage your laptop originally used. A 30W phone charger may keep a laptop alive at idle but will not charge it properly while you work, and the battery can still drain under load.
Only USB-C chargers that support Power Delivery at the required wattage. A low-watt phone charger will not properly charge a laptop under load.
Match the original charger’s wattage (commonly 45W or 65W). A higher-wattage PD charger is safe; a lower one is not enough.
