Where the laptop model number lives
The fastest source is the sticker on the bottom of the laptop, which lists the model name and often a product/serial number. If the sticker is worn, the model also appears in the BIOS/UEFI setup screen and in the operating system: on Windows, open System Information (msinfo32) or run “wmic csproduct get name” in Command Prompt.
Write down the full model string, including any suffix (for example “15-da0326tu” rather than just “HP 15”). Small suffix differences often mean different parts.
- Bottom sticker model + serial
- BIOS/UEFI system information
- Windows System Information (msinfo32)
- Note the full model suffix
